Jaswant Thada Hawali: Information About Monument
The Jaswant Thada Monument is a cenotaph located in Jodhpur. The Jaswant Thada was built in memory of his father Maharaja Jaswant Singhji ll by Maharaja Sardar Singh king of Jodhpur State in 1899. Also, This monument served as the cremation ground for the Rajput Royal family of Marwar.
This Monument Situated around half a kilometre away from the Mehrangarh Fort which is one ot the most popular tourist attraction in Jodhpur. The Jaswant Thada is a beautifully constructed white marble cenotaph of Maharaja of Jodhpur, which Also known as the Taj Mahal of Marwar. It Showcasing architectural brilliance of Rajputana era, the monument is built like a temple with beautiful jalis(carved marble lattice screens).
The cenotaph's grounds feature carved gazebos, a multi-tiered garden and a small lake. There are three other cenotaphs in the grounds. The cenotaph of Maharaja Jaswant Singh displays portraits of the rulers and Maharajas of Jodhpur.
