Ginnorgarh Fort Sehore: History
Ginnaurgarh is a fort in Sehore District, Madhya Pradesh. Located in the Ratapani Tiger Reserve on a rocky summit rising to 700m, Ginnorgarh has two natural water bodies and a fortified enclosure with the remains of several palaces, gatehouses and cisterns. Ginnorgarh was occupied late in the Paramara period, as testified by architectural fragments incorporated into the current structures, but the location first rose to prominence under the Gond rulers. The palace may have been constructed by Nizam Shah, a powerful Gond warlord. The building is one of the gems of Indian palace architecture, close in style to the Kharbuja Mahal at Dhar fort.
Historians are very surprised by one thing about this fort. That is, despite being built at such a height, there are 25 wells and four small ponds around this fort, which is full of water at all times. Black and green stones are scattered here on the hill. These stones have been used to build the fort. Under the fort is a centuries-old cave, which further deepens the mystery of its construction. This cave has a pool of cold water which remains cold outside in the month. Despite being built at such a height, water is plentiful here. There are about 25 wells-bawdis and 4 small ponds in and around the fort. Taj, who works as a guide here, said that these ponds are filled with water for twelve months. The fort wall is about 82 feet high and 20 feet wide. Black and green stones are scattered here on the hill. These stones have been used to build the fort.
